In Schuyler, Early Head Start serves around 16 in full-day, center-based service. Home-based EHS/Sixpence and Sixpence/Public Schools serve about 15 each in the 0-3 range. In the 3-5 range, Head Start-center-based programs serve around 74 children in part-day service. School-based Pre-K serves 112; the 3's in the program are in special education. In the coming year, any child who leaves EHS, Sixpence programs who cannot get into Head Start will be guaranteed a spot in Pre-k, age 3 program so continuity for 3's will be improved. In addition a PeeWee group serves nine parents (already in other groups) and a Family Resource Center provides welfare, WIC and other services at the middle school; in 2014 it will be housed at the elementary school.
Nebraska Children and Families Foundation supports children, young adults and families at risk with the overall goal of giving our state’s most vulnerable kids what they need to reach their full potential. We do this by building strong communities that support families so their children can grow up to be thriving, productive adults.
